The Concept of a Gentle Wife Part 1

Posted on January 11, 2024January 11, 2024 by Abigailzrobinson

Initially, I doubted the existence of a ‘gentle wife’ and only acted submissively when it seemed appropriate. Yet, the Bible mentions persistently submitting to our husbands. I soon realized I needed divine support to do this. My marriage wasn’t always smooth, but my husband’s consistent demonstrations of love, even during disputes, reminded me of Christ’s love. His actions inspired me to improve and that’s when I delve into scripture.

Scripture outlines a divine order in marriages where each spouse has their roles—with 1 Corinthians 11:3-5 and 1 Peter 3:7 emphasizing the importance of love and order, and Hebrews 1:14 hinting at spiritual consequences for not adhering to these roles. Leadership in the household isn’t about who is more knowledgeable or qualified; it’s about playing our roles right and receiving blessings in return.

Here are eight tips for becoming a gentle wife:

1. **Give Full Attention**: When your husband speaks, stop and look at him, giving your full focus.

2. **Listen Fully**: Let him finish speaking without interruptions, showing you value his words.

3. **Pray for Him**: Understand that as the head of the household, he is often the target of spiritual attacks. Prayer can protect and strengthen him.

4. **Show Affection**: Use simple actions, like a wink or a kiss, to express love and support.

5. **Show Interest**: Ask about his day and respond with engagement and care.

6. **Dress Up**: Dressing nicely for your husband shows that you value him.

7. **Support His Interests**: Occasionally join him in his favorite activities, whether watching a show he likes or cooking his favorite meal.

8. **Avoid Complaints**: Constant complaining can be harmful. Try different approaches or pray for guidance if an issue persists.

Becoming a gentle wife means putting effort into being kind, loving, and respectful, which is what God asks of us. Marriage may have its rough moments, but we can overcome them by following God’s guidance and supporting each other through prayer. By following the eight helpful tips from the blog, you make real progress toward a calm and loving spirit that makes God happy and strengthens your marriage. These steps help create a strong relationship where both partners can grow in love.

Keeping up these behaviors is important; it helps build a strong and loving partnership, with God’s help. So let’s use these ideas to make each day a chance to show the same love Christ has for us and build a marriage that shows how great a kind and caring spirit can be.
