The truth is we didn’t choose Texas.

We actually had our mind set on moving to Georgia eventually.
BUT GOD!
We were established in Florida & became tiresome of the same routine. My husband & I desired to be homeowners and we knew Georgia had endless possibilities. We knew Georgia could give us a run for our money when it came to house hunting. In addition, we used to live in Georgia when we first got married, so the idea of being familiar was comforting.
My husband had a sweet idea years ago to take me out of state as a birthday gift every year. Of course, I chose Georgia the first go-round. So now, I guess you’re still wondering how we ended up in Texas. Well, I was influenced! I had been following a Dallas family on social media, & I wanted to meet them. So I decided that for my November 2021 Birthday Trip, we visit Texas! It was just another state to visit not necessarily considering relocating!
Now, let me backtrack a little. While in Florida in preparation to travel to Texas, Damian & I began to discuss the possibility of living in Texas. Like, what if we are there & love it? Oh goodness, I instantly became nervous at just the thought. Texas! To live? Note: we have never been to Texas we have no family or friend relations in Texas. However, the idea became more & more intriguing.
So, let’s fast forward now, we landed in Texas. I woke up in the Omni Dallas Hotel for my birthday, it felt good, real good! We enjoyed the Dallas Trolley Tour of the city. Our children were so in love, they didn’t want to leave the state. I think what shocked me the most was my husband’s admiration of the city.
We all had an unspeakable joy while touring Dallas. The possibility of meeting “the influencers” was no longer a deep passion. The Lord had another plan!
Jesus happened! It was no wonder he had us thinking about Texas before visiting. It’s no wonder He opened a door for me to work remotely. It’s no wonder He allowed us to move in 4 months! It is no wonder he funded the move! It is no wonder, Jesus planned this all along.
So that’s it in a nutshell, Jesus brought us here. Since being here we have become members of an amazing church. Our children love it & the teaching of the Word of God is rich! We are financially stable here. We are at peace. I still wake up here feeling like I am on vacation. Our social life has expanded and our businesses are thriving here.
I am so happy we were obedient to what God proposed. Moving to Texas was one of the best decisions we could make for our family.
Moving Advice
1.Get rid of it! Yes, get rid of that old couch, vintage dresser, and pile of clothes. I am not throwing any shade here, but the idea here is to make room for God to bless. Sell those items! Facebook Marketplace is the perfect place to sell and make quick money.
2. Giveaway! Making money sounds good, don’t get me wrong. But the Bible says in Acts 20:35 it is better to give than to receive. Although we sold a lot of items, we also placed a ton of quality items on the curb with a big FREE sign. The Lord will restore. The act of giving makes you happy. Generosity is good for the brain.
3. Explore and research the area! If possible, take a ride around potential neighborhoods. View the school ratings in the community. Check the crime rate. What is the traffic flow like? When we were in Florida, the traffic was horrendous. Getting to Walmart was a 30-minute commute on a good day. Now, we can walk to Walmart if we please.
4. Secure a job! It would be nice to just up and move when we please, huh? However, this is not a smart idea. Make sure to secure a reliable job before moving. Some companies will conduct virtual interviews if you provide them with information on the possible move date.
5. Moving Checklist! Get organized with a checklist from beginning to end. There is no greater feeling than checking things off a list. Having everything listed right at your fingertips can avoid stress and anxiety. You can download the template I used to assist me with my move here.
6. Pray! Now, this may be listed last, but it is the first thing to do! Talk to Jesus! He will not and cannot fail you. Ask Him for your heart’s desires, but also be clear that you want His will to be done. We know that His plan is always to prosper us! -Jeremiah 29:11
